A self-help book that makes life a little less chaotic

Mental health advocate Nakeya T. Fields has created a 26-week self-transformation action planner designed to guide readers toward achieving balance and fulfillment in their lives. This planner serves as both a motivational guide and a weekly affirmation journal that enables readers to meticulously plan their days and reflect on their progress.

Before each planner template, Fields includes a special topic to help set the tone for the week ahead. Some of the topics she discusses are “Self-Awareness Leads To Empowerment: The Brain Well-Being Model,” “The Relationship Between Mental And Physical Health,” “Aspirational Awareness Leads To Purpose,” and “The 5 Love Languages.”

For some topics, she is brief and offers only a few words, but for others, she goes deeper and includes some truly enlightening information. For example, when she talks about “The Relationship Between Mental and Physical Health,” she delves into what somatic awareness is all about and provides exercises on how to cultivate a deeper connection with one’s body.

“Our mental health can have a significant impact on our physical health, and vice versa. Optimal physical health requires somatic awareness, which is being in tune with our bodies and regulating our nervous system to better manage big emotions.”

The underlying philosophy of Manifest It! is captured in the notion that “manifestation, when sought after, reminds us of the power of positive thinking and intentional action in creating the life we desire.” Thus, the goal of this self-help book is to motivate readers to open themselves up to new possibilities and change while silencing any self-depleting attributes or self-sabotaging thoughts.

Manifest It! is well-organized and easy for anyone to use. Each week, readers are encouraged to write down the tasks they would like to complete by the week’s end. The space allocated is small, which I believe is to help readers prioritize which tasks need to be completed. By doing this, readers are able to manage their time more effectively and ensure they are giving the most important tasks the attention they deserve.

Aside from the daily goals, the planner includes a comprehensive template for action plans, communication strategies, resource management, timelines, self-care checklists, and free-writing pages for personal reflections. This allows readers to visualize the steps they are going to take to complete each goal of the week. I love the self-care checklists included in the template. They help emphasize the need to have a healthy balance between work and personal life, which will encourage readers to listen to their bodies and practice self-compassion more.

Manifest It! is most effective as a physical copy because you have to actively write down your plans and thoughts. But rather than using the paperback, I would advise getting a separate journal as an alternative.

Manifest It! is a valuable action planner and motivational guide that teaches us how to control, structure, and balance our lives, all while pursuing our dreams. Its thoughtful design, enlightening topics, and emphasis on manifestation through written goals make it a practical and inspiring resource.
